Thunderstorm Safety Tips

• Unplug any appliances or electronic equipment well before a thunderstorm threatens.
   
• Don't touch electrical equipment or cords during a thunderstorm.
   
• Avoid plumbing. Do not wash your hands, take a shower or wash dishes.
   
• Stay away from windows and doors, and stay off porches during a thunderstorm.
   
• Torrential rains can cause flash flooding, avoid low water crossings and do not drive through water on the roadway.
   
• Monitor your local TV, radio station or weather station for updates and messages.
   
• Have an emergency kit with a flash light available in the event of power outages.
   
• Avoid downed power lines (if trapped in your vehicle by a power line stay in the vehicle and avoid touching any metal components until help arrives.)
